Seed Hub at Enniscorthy Community Allotments – Free seeds to plant & share

Reimagining Enniscorthy is creating a local food network to grow and share our own food, buy seasonally from local suppliers, and reduce our food waste. To help everyone get started they have launched seed hubs in Enniscorthy town from 18th February 2023.

A seed hub will be located at Enniscorthy Community Allotments and will be open to ECA members and the public from 12 noon to 2pm (Monday to Saturday).

How it works

  • sign the seed hub list (available from allotment staff or committee members in the shed (from 12 noon to 2pm, Monday to Saturday).
  • take some free seeds
  • plant just what you need
  • share some seeds with your friends & neighbours
  • bring any leftover seeds back to a seed hub

    What can I grow?

Seed Hubs have a wide variety of seeds, from salads, tomatoes and herbs, to your favourite vegetables, including carrots, peas and beans, and a selection of different brassicas and root vegetables, we even have some edible flowers in the mix. And if you want seed potatoes and onion sets you can pick some up at our Seed Hub at Enniscorthy Community Allotments.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for you can try a different hub or drop in another day the selection changes depending on what people have borrowed and dropped back, just like a library.

All our seeds are from Irish suppliers GIY Ireland, Quickcrop and Irish Seed Savers. You can find more information on each seed variety and advice on growing on their websites, and at GIY Ireland’s Veg Directory – a guide on all you need to know to get started growing your own food from seed to harvest.
